DIY: Antrhopologie Inspired Bobby Pins

We absolutely love these bobby pins from Anthropologie,

 Printed Fabric Bobbies

but at $15, we realized we could make it for a lot cheaper and with items we already own!

So let's get started with this easy project!
You need a variety of nail polishes, wide hair pins, and either tape, a (nail polish) dotting tool, or a thin paintbrush.

If you're using:
Tape: Cute the tape into thin strips and place them in various places on the bobby pin (this works best when there is no " base color" of polish)  Using your choice of polish colors, paint them on the pin where there is no tape. When you're done painting, wait at least 1 hour to make sure everything is dried, then gently pull up the tape. You're finished! This technique will only allow you to create a striped pattern.

Dotting Tool: This tool will allow you to create an abstract design or a dotted pattern on your pins- you can create one by yourself by sticking sewing pins into an eraser. Paint the pins white, then use the dotting tool to either create dots or your abstract design. That's it!

Paintbrush: A simple art and crafts paintbrush (not pictured below) can be used to create different sizes of stripes/lines. Start off with a coat of white polish, then carefully paint on stripes, dots, or an abstract design. Keep wiping off excess polish, especially when changing colors. When you're finished, clean the brush in nail polish remover. We decided to use this method.

When you're finished with your design, make sure it completely dries ( give it 20+ min.) and add a top coat of clear nail polish if you wish.

DIY: Pretty Polka Dot Nail Art

Hi everyone! It's been a while since we last posted. But, here's the follow up nail tutorial to our DIY Nail Dotting Tool post. This is a really easy, cute idea. I've gotten so many compliments from this nail design!

You'll need: A base/top coat polish, white and neutral pink polish, and a dotting tool.

Start by applying a thin base coat. We used a two-in-one L'OREAL polish that works great!

Apply the neutral pink on all your nails except for your ring finger. On the ring finger, paint on a coat of white polish.

Dab your dotting tool into a little bit of the pink polish.  The easiest way we found was to drop a little bit of polish on a piece of paper, and then dip the dotting tool into the polish. Apply dots carefully, but randomly, all over your ring finger.
Finish off with a top coat and you're finished with this cute nail design! Remember, you can switch up nail colors for a different look!

And don't forget to visit our charity Etsy store, http://www.etsy.com/shop/KeepHeart! Thanks and have enjoy this cute nail design!

Inspiration Ideas: Anthropologie and Free People Inspired Scarves

As you will see in the future, we are in love with items from Free People and Anthropologie. But with the hefty price tag on all their items, we just like to think, "if you can't buy it, DIY it!"

Inspiration Idea 1: Free People Checked Shirt Scarf
We love this idea.. it's a perfect scarf for the upcoming fall and winter. It's pretty easy to make, or at least that's what we think. Cut up some unused, plaid men's shirt into squares and sew them together. Cute and easy to make!

DIY: Bracelet Transformation

Hi everyone! We recently found an unused bracelet that came with a big set. It turned out that it was too big because part of the elastic had snapped. So we're going to put it to good use by transforming into a wearable bracelet.

Start off by cutting the bracelet and collecting the beads.
